Almighty God, you have conquered death through your dearly beloved Son Jesus Christ and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: grant us by your grace to set our mind on things above, so that by your continual help our whole life may be transformed; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit in everlasting glory.

Amen.

From the Passage Heavenly Father,
We come before You acknowledging that without the hope of the resurrection, our world quickly descends into division and strife. But because Jesus rose, everything has changed. We thank You for the Great Reversal and ask that You would weave these truths into our hearts as we pray:
From Weakness to Power: Lord, forgive us for looking to worldly leaders or human might for our ultimate security. We recognize that even the strongest among us are beset with weakness and limited by the grave. We fix our eyes instead on the Opposite: the true power found in Jesus, the only one who has conquered death itself. Let His strength be our confidence.
From Decay to Family: Though our natural story ends in decay, we praise You for the new reality Jesus secured through His ascension. Thank You for making us part of the Eternal Family of God. We rest in the promise that our bodies will not be left to the grave but will be renewed. We look forward with joy to the day we will rise with Him.
From Silence to Sending: Finally, Father, shake us from the “comfortable silence” of staying put. Remind us that because Jesus rules and reigns, we are a Sent People. Help us to embrace our mission not through human persuasion, but through simple faithfulness to the good news. We go out knowing that all authority belongs to Christ, the one who makes dead people alive again.
As we leave this place, let us not forget that the story did not end with a full tomb and a dark Friday, but with an empty tomb and a dazzling Sunday. May we live today in the light of that victory.

Amen.

General info: There are >800 languages spoken in Papua New Guinea, but only 13 have complete bibles. Calvin and Ruth work alongside Papua New Guineans in roles that support the ongoing ministry of bible translation. Calvin is an aircraft maintenance engineer, in order to provide transport and logistics support for bible translators. Ruth provides training for the bible translators, so that locals can take the lead in this work.

Lord God,
We lift up the nation of Papua New Guinea to you, a land of immense beauty and over 800 distinct languages. We confess the weight of the need: that while Your Word is a lamp to our feet, only 13 of these language groups have access to a complete Bible.
We thank You for the work of Calvin and Ruth Mathys as they labor to close this gap. We pray specifically for their unique roles in the mission of translation:
For Calvin: We thank You for his skills as an aircraft maintenance engineer. We ask for Your protection and wisdom as he maintains the planes that provide vital transport and logistics. In a land of rugged terrain, may these aircraft be the wings that carry Your Word to the most remote corners of the earth.
For Ruth: We pray for her as she trains and equips local Bible translators. Grant her patience, clarity, and insight as she empowers Papua New Guineans to take the lead in this work. We pray that through her teaching, many would be raised up to translate Your truth into their own mother tongues.
Lord, we ask that through their combined efforts, the “comfortable silence” would be broken and every tribe and tongue would soon hear of Your Great Reversal in a language they truly understand.

Amen.
