Collect

Lord God, you know us to be set in the midst of so many great dangers that by reason of the frailty of our nature we cannot always stand upright: grant us such strength and protection as may support us in all dangers and carry us through all temptations; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Week A

Section Content
From the Passage Almighty Father, the only true God, We thank You that eternal life is not a distant prize, but the gift of knowing You. We praise You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to bring us out of the darkness and into Your light.

Lord Jesus, our Brother and Saviour, Forgive us for treating Your grace like an exam to be passed. Stop us from merely staring at the dust of our own performance. Help us to look along the light of Your Word until we see the Father’s face, and know ourselves to be Your beloved brothers and sisters.

Holy Spirit, our Comforter and Guide, Teach us to participate in the life of the Trinity. When we pray, when we study, and when we serve, remind us that we are not alone, but are joined to the eternal conversation of Father, Son, and Spirit.

God of all nations, Whether we are Anglo, Chinese, or Nepali, unite us as one family. This year, help us to truly know You, and in the joy of our adoption, to make You known to our neighbors.

To the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be all glory, now and forever. Amen.

General Information: There are >800 languages spoken in Papua New Guinea, but only 13 have complete bibles. Calvin and Ruth work alongside Papua New Guineans in roles that support the ongoing ministry of bible translation. Calvin is an aircraft maintenance engineer, in order to provide transport and logistics support for bible translators. Ruth provides training for the bible translators, so that locals can take the lead in this work.

1. Bible Translation & Training

Pray for Language Groups: With over 800 languages in PNG and only 13 full Bibles, pray for the many people still waiting for the Word of God in their own language.

Pray for Local Leaders: Pray for Ruth as she trains local Papua New Guineans. Ask that those she teaches would gain the skills and confidence to lead the translation work in their own communities.

2. Transport & Safety

Pray for Technical Skill: Pray for Calvin in his role as an aircraft engineer. Ask for safety and precision as he maintains the planes that carry translators and supplies to remote areas.

Pray for Safe Travel: Pray for the pilots and passengers flying over difficult terrain, that God would provide favorable weather and mechanical reliability.

3. More Workers Needed

Pray for Support Staff: The mission needs more than just translators. Pray for God to send teachers, IT professionals, accountants, and managers to help the organization function.

Pray for the Call: Ask that people with these professional skills would be willing to move to PNG to support the mission.

4. Family & Transitions

Pray for the Family: Pray for Calvin and Ruth as they adjust to life in PNG while their son, Jakob, is back in Australia. Ask for peace and comfort for the family during this season of being apart.

Pray for Jakob: Pray for Jakob’s transition to life in Australia—that he would find good friends, a supportive church, and clear direction for his future.
