Collect

Almighty and everlasting God, in tender love towards mankind you send your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, to take our nature upon hum and to suffer death on the cross, that all mankind should follow the example of his great humility: grant that we may follow the example of his suffering, and also be made partakers of his resurrection; through him who loves and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever.

Amen.

Mission Partners Mellisa Wang at Focus Adelaide
General info: FOCUS is a group for international students at Adelaide Uni. Mellisa seeks to support their student committee in running the group’s weekly activities. She also meets one to one with female students to disciple them through reading the Bible and prayer.

Here are some latest prayer points that Mellisa has recently sent out.

Chinese Seekers (Lucas & Albert): Give thanks that Lucas and Albert are so keen to know God. Pray that as they read the Bible with James (our new staff), God would open their eyes to see themselves and the world more clearly, leading them to seek Jesus’ help.

Weekend Away (17–19 April): Ask God for wisdom and peace in planning the FOCUS camp. As I feel the stress of having no sign-ups yet, pray that God would prompt students to join. Pray also for David as he writes his talks on ‘humanity’—that the message would nourish him personally and inspire students to surrender their whole lives to worshipping Jesus.

Personal: Ask God for ongoing self-control regarding sleep and rest. Pray for growing compassion and curiosity toward others, and that I would learn to find my contentment in Christ rather than in ministry results.
Church Ministries Youth Praise God for all the youths in high school at St George’s. Pray for courage for them to live out their faith in a world that doesn’t recognise Christ. Pray that they would take the light of Jesus into their homes and schools.

Thank God for all the faithful leaders who show up each week to model what being a disciple of Jesus means and looks like to their younger brothers and sisters in high school. Pray for rest over the upcoming holiday break where they can be refreshed in their energy and show genuine love when they return.

Special Items and Events 4pm English Congregation (Discover Course): On the 26th of April, our 4pm congregation is running a course introductory Christianity course. Pray that many members will ask their friends to attend. Please pray that many will come for all five weeks and, through the course, find life in Jesus’ name.
